D.R. Horton

D.R. Horton started development of this site in Riverdale New Jersey in 2004.  The site was an abandoned quarry that had been abandoned for some time; in fact the Riverdale site was originally a "pay for use" day lake back in the 1960's and 1970's.  Families would come for the day, have a barbeque at the surrounding picnic tables, play horseshoes and swim in the lake.  When the Clean Water Act came into effect, this day lake was shut down, and has been abandoned ever since. Prime building lots in New Jersey were becoming rare therefore, D.R. Horton chose this site to develop. http://www.drhorton.com/corp/GetCommunity.do?dv=70&pr=41818&start=5

Soon after they took over the site they hired Ken Quazza from SESI to evaluate ther slopes before and during construction to make sure there would be no long term dangers for the occupants once all of the construction was completed.  Ken recommended that Janod be brought in do perform the necessary remediation work.  That initial call led to over $8,000,000.00 and over 2 years worth of stabilization work on that site.  The site required most of the techniques and equipment used by Janod at one time or another.
