Burlington Northern Santa Fe

Janod has been the contractor of choice for complicated stabilization projects since we had the opportunity to prove ourselves in 1997. We were invited by BNSF to help them out with a siding construction project in Idaho (Katka Siding). We were the third contractor to be called in to attempt to drill and install rock anchors. The other two contractors were not successful in installing rock bolts due to the difficult rock conditions of the rock slopes. Janod was not only successful in the installation of the rock bolts but proved to be proficient in all the rock slope stability needs of the BSNF.

BNSF had already spent approximately $250,000.00 on this task and had only 100 linear feet of installed anchors. At $2,500.00 a linear foot they had to find a contractor that could perform under the difficult conditions on this site.

On the first day that we arrived on site we set up our drilling equipment and drilled 100ft. BNSF were very impressed with Janod, that when the second phase was put out to tender the bids were eventually thrown out and Janod was retained on a time and material contract to complete the project. The cost savings to the BSNF were considerable compared to the tendered prices they had received for the completion of the project. Janod ended up installing approximately 33,000 linear feet of rock bolts in the 16 months that we were there.

Norfolk Southern

Since then we have worked on several projects for BNSF and maintain a service contract to provide men with basic gear within 24hrs of the call and equipment within 72hrs regardless where the project is located.
