Mines & Quarries Rock Stabilization Projects

Quebec Iron and Titananium (QIT)-Rio Tinto

Janod has stabilized some of the rock faces along the railway that leads into the mine. We were called in to scale the loose rock from the final walls in some of the more critical areas in the mine. Janod was called to task when the mine needed to install two sets of twelve inch pipes in a 300 foot vertical wall for the evacuation of water from the mine. The pipeline had to be fit on site to the contours of the rock slope and it had to be solid enough to withstand the force of the initial surge when they turned on the pumps. The system was installed in 1987 and is still being utilized to this day and performing well.

After several years of trying local contractors to maintain their slopes they have called us back again in June 2009 and again in September to scale out loose rock that has accumulated over the years.
